Theo von Triptis

NEWER PICTURE:

Theo von Triptis is a 7 year-old German Shepherd who arrived at the rescue in heartbreaking condition.  Once a magnificent purebred German Shepherd, he spent many of his days in a junk-filled backyard right next to railroad tracks, with only a short chainlink fence to shield him from the freight trains hurtling by within a few yards of the concrete slab he laid on.  Even so, Theo has not lost faith in humans. He's a sweet and gentle boy who wants so badly to please anyone -- just for a little attention.  Now in Westside’s care, this big boy with an easygoing personality savors his outside walks, seeing and smelling a whole new world.  Whether trotting with a pack of dogs or hanging out in canine playgroups, Theo seems to take life in stride.  He responds to the “sit” and “stay” commands and may be housebroken.  Westside has promised Theo that the next part of his life will be the best part – with an owner who cherishes and cares for him, and treats him as much a part of the family as everyone else in it!

UPDATE FROM FOSTER MOM:

Theo makes friends wherever he goes, eager to meet new people and new dogs of all sizes. He is housetrained, knows "sit," and will give you a paw if he can tell you want him to do something but isn't sure what you're asking -- just so you know he's trying! Theo loves his toys, and prancing around the house with one in his mouth. He looks positively smug when playing keep-away, and also likes tug-of-war. Nearly perfect on leash, Theo is a dog you can take anywhere. He is unusually easy in the house too, showing no interest in shoes, socks, or general destruction. He is still in the recovery process after being neglected in his former home, but his fur is growing back fast and every day is an improvement: he seems to be on the road to a full recovery and many active, healthy and happy years to come!
